about me
I specialize in endoscopic surgery of the nose and maxillary sinuses, as well as tumors of the skull base.
I obtained the 2nd degree of specialization in otolaryngology in 1999, defended my doctoral thesis in 2004 and became an associate professor in 2014. Since 2016 I have been a professor at the Institute of Oncology in Gliwice. Before, for 10 years I have been treating patients at the Department of Otolaryngology of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Cracow. Currently, I work in Tommed Medical Center, Katowice, and the Institute of Oncology, Gliwice.
Over the years I have performed over two thousand procedures using endoscopic surgical techniques.
I participated in numerous training courses including microsurgery, reconstructive surgery and advanced endoscopic surgery techniques, both domestically and abroad (Milano, Hradec-Kralove, Amsterdam). With equal commitment I get involved in oncological and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.
Together with other members of our team at the Department of Oncological and Reconstructive Surgery of the Institute of Oncology in Gliwice we conduct pioneering reconstructions of horizontal and vertical parts of the larynx. As a result of these activities, we conducted the first epiglottal reconstruction surgery in Poland, for which I received an award of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery also known as a "medical Oscar". Another joint achievement is the first vast allogenic head and neck organ graft combined with transplant of bone marrow in a child conducted in 2019.
In December 2012 I received an award from the Director of Marie Curie Memorial Institute of Oncology in Gliwice for implementing modern techniques of reconstructive and microvascular surgery of the glottis and epiglottis with own modifications.
In 2015, together with team, we've been honoured with "Medical Laurel".
I am a co-author of several medical textbooks and my publications appear in national and foreign magazines. Over the last few years another emerged regarding sinus conditions and oncological surgery.
